Many homeowners in Victoria purchased their home knowing that it was almost perfect – but not quite right. They love the neighbourhood, location, and the little things that matter the most – being close to their favourite stores, good schools for their kids, and a tolerable commute to work. And while there’s nothing wrong with being ‘good,’ many of them settled for the home they chose and didn’t realize that, with some professional design and a talented renovation crew, their ‘good enough’ space could actually be transformed into their ideal home.

This was the case for a young couple who purchased a wartime home in Greater Victoria. The space they bought was nice, but cramped. They did a great job of sprucing things up themselves — adding a new fence, upgrading the HVAC, and installing new windows – but when it came to the available floorspace, they felt stuck. Since the home only had one bathroom, they had to share it when friends and family came to stay. As well, the cramped primary bedroom on the main floor couldn’t give them the space they needed to stretch out and relax.

That’s when they made the smart decision to call MAC Reno Design Build to find the space they needed to make their home perfect.

Chris Willis, Project Leader at MAC Reno Design Build, explained, “This young couple wanted a tub, but the downstairs bathroom wasn’t an option due to the small footprint. We looked at the space within the home and found that, with some creative carpentry, we could move their primary bedroom upstairs and convert the small bedroom and some unused attic space into a deluxe ensuite retreat, complete with a free-standing tub and a separate shower.”

Another benefit of choosing a professional team: these homeowners were able to use our experience and connections to navigate the permitting process required to bring the home up to code. We were there to work with the inspectors and municipality to ensure everyone was happy with he build and outcome.

“This shower and freestanding tub have served as the showpieces of this renovation,” said Chris. “The homeowners’ friends and family can’t stop saying how beautiful and unique it looks compared to a traditional bathroom.”

A Bathroom Just for You

Imagine a space where your beauty products stay where you put them, the towels are always dry when you reach for them, and you can shower and get ready without rushing to avoid an awkward lineup outside of your bathroom. How great will it be to stop worrying about what you’re wearing when you get up in the middle of the night to use the washroom? That’s just a little bit of the bliss a private bathroom can bring to your life.

If you’d like to add an ensuite to your primary bedroom or a private bathroom for your guestroom, give us a call to see how we can make this happen. As your primary contractor, we’ll take care of the design, the permits, the plumbing, and everything else required to bring more joy to your home.

Call today to get started.
